George L. Maxwell, MD
Dr Maxwell has been with Inova Health System since his retirement from the U.S. Army in 2011 after 20 years of service. Dr Maxwell is subspecialty trained in gynecologic oncology and administratively oversees all operational and academic activities across five hospitals as the President of Women’s Services for the Inova Health System. He is a full Professor at the University of Virginia School of Medicine as well as the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr Maxwell serves as the co-Principal Investigator of the Department of Defense Gynecologic Cancer Translational Research Center of Excellence, a research consortium comprised of multiple investigative teams in the U.S. along with collaborative partnerships across the globe. Dr Maxwell has authored over 180 publications and has received numerous awards for his investigative activities. Dr Maxwell is one of the founding members of the National Race to End Women’s Cancer as well as the founder and Chair Globe-athon International, a nonprofit that has organized outreach and educational events in over 70 countries worldwide to raise gynecologic cancer awareness.
