Caitlin Houghton, MD

Caitlin Houghton, MD graduated surgical residency from University of California, Irvine then attended fellowship at The University of California, San Diego. She trained in minimally invasive bariatric and foregut surgery. She is currently an esteemed member of faculty at The University of Southern California in the Upper GI and general surgery division. Her primary focus is on esophageal diseases including GERD, achalasia and neoplasms.

She strives for excellence and elegance in her own surgical practice and shows passion for motivating other surgeons to do the same. She continues to demonstrate this passion by acting as a Mentor of Robotic Foregut Surgery for the American Foregut Society, by proctoring surgeons in both Robotic surgery and LINX, and by hosting case observations at HOAG medical center. Caitlin currently holds positions in several prestigious societies. She acts as Co-chair of the Robotics committee and is a member of the membership committee for the American Foregut Society, she is on the admin board for the Women in DaVinci surgery Facebook collaboration, and she is an active member of the International Hernia Society where she acted as a mentor for hands on labs and helped plan the 2020 meeting.
